International Tom Hanks Day Returns!
►Party to again be held at Lincoln Hall

CHICAGO—March 2017—Acting legend Tom Hanks will again be celebrated in the Windy City–and money raised for his favorite charity–at the 14th annual whimsical cult gathering that is International Tom Hanks Day.
This year’s party date is Saturday, April 1 (aka April Fool’s Day), from Noon-5:00 p.m. at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Avenue.
A $10 donation allows guests to buy special-priced drinks and food. They also receive a free raffle ticket chance to win Hanks’ great memorabilia including some provided by the actor himself. In the past this has included signed Forrest Gump posters, signed movies and signed Wilson volleyballs (from his movie Cast Away). More raffle tickets can be purchased.
The afternoon also includes music, games and screenings of Hanks’ movies and a special guest appearance by Kristine Pearson from Lifeline Energy – all the way from South Africa!
Celebrated worldwide, Tom Hanks Day’s humble origins started in 2004 on the couch of a few Western Michigan University students in Kalamazoo.
Over the years, this annual party for fans (and non-fans) alike has expanded from its Chicago and Kalamazoo roots and is celebrated annually in other cities. They have included Los Angeles, London, Cleveland, Toronto, and Cape Town, South Africa..
The day’s proceeds benefit U.S. charity Lifeline Energy the actor’s favorite charity. Lifeline (www.lifelineenergy.org) is non-profit social enterprise that provides assorted technologies and eco-friendly initiatives to enhance the lives of residents in underdeveloped countries.
