Access to education and information is a barrier to millions of people who strive every day to better their lives. We deliver on-demand listening access to those most in need.
We work with with governments, international aid organisations, local NGOs, communities, individuals and corporations working across a range of sectors – education, health, agriculture, complex emergencies and peacemaking. We build coalitions that bring the public and private sector together. When communication is a central component a project’s success, Lifeline ensures that information is delivered the ‘last mile’ to communities even in the most remote, inaccessible locations.
Over the years we’ve worked closely with local partners to develop a system to distribute radios and media players for projects of any size. We share this methodology with our partners and train their staff (as trainers), as well as community members directly.
Our approach is holistic. Radios and MP3 players are never just given away or handed out. Community involvement is key to ensure that a product’s potential is maximised. All recipients sign an agreement, which is also read aloud, that outlines their role and responsibilities on behalf of a classroom or group. Guardians are often teachers, local leaders or child heads of households. We advocate that guardians be female whenever possible.
